Gun Found on High School Student
ROLESVILLE- On Wednesday February 1, 2023, at approximately 10:47 A.M. a staff member of Rolesville High School observed a student outside of class, the staff member stopped the student and during that process observed that the student was in possession of a firearm. The firearm was loaded. Nobody was harmed.
Immediately the firearm was confiscated, and a Code Red Alert was sent out and enforced to ensure the safety of students, staff, and faculty. Rolesville Police Department and Wake County Public School System Security was on site and started a full investigation of the incident. The student will face disciplinary action. State law requires an automatic 365-day suspension of any student in possession of a firearm on school property.
This afternoon at 12:30 P.M. the Code Red lockdown was lifted and moved to Code Yellow along with early release for students at 1:15 P.M. while under Police supervision. Specific information about the student involved cannot be shared. Everyone is safe and afterschool activities have been canceled.
Currently the specifics of this incident are being investigated by the Rolesville Police Department.
This matter remains under investigation until further details can be addressed.
