Mayor's May 1 Message on COVID-19

Stay Home, Stay Safe, and Stay Connected

Fellow Rolesville Residents,

This past week there were two actions taken that affect us. The first action was taken by Governor Cooper who extended the stay at home order until May 8th. The second was taken by Wake County, which ceased their order, and now Rolesville will follow Governor Cooper’s order. The most significant change from the past month is that groups of up to ten are able to congregate with proper social distancing.

Governor Cooper has also developed three phases of lifting restrictions based upon key metrics that will be monitored statewide and in Wake County. So far, it is anticipated that Phase 1 may start shortly after May 8th. To learn more about the phased plan go to this site

The ability to begin lifting restrictions is really up to us and the COVID-19 spread in North Carolina and Wake County. If trends and metrics continue to improve and we keep up our social distancing, chances are good that we will start to “re-open” up in a safe manner. It is important that we stay diligent in our efforts to protect our seniors and most vulnerable citizens by reducing the probability of future spread of COVID-19.

I am proud of our Rolesville community and how we have conducted ourselves during this period. As a community, we have the fewest number of reported COVID-19 positive cases in Wake County. When we look back at this historic period, we can be proud of our efforts to date.

Town Hall and Police Department continues to operate in a safe manner. We are working on our plans for opening up our services for each phase. This month we anticipate that we will start to take payments, conduct virtual and in-person public meetings, and some modified programs. In the next couple of months we are looking forward to opening up our newly remodeled Town Hall lobby and customer service area that is near completion. Keep informed of our plans by visiting our COVID website.

As Mayor of Rolesville, I want to thank you for your patience and perseverance. We will come out stronger and closer at the end of this. Rolesville continues to shine now and long into the future.

For the most up to date information on Town services and resources available, continue to monitor the Town of Rolesville website

So, stay home, stay safe, and stay connected to each other Rolesville.

Sincerely,

Ronnie I. Currin

Rolesville Mayor
