Mayor's May 22 Message on COVID-19

Stay Safe and Stay Connected

Fellow Rolesville Residents,

This week Governor Cooper moved North Carolina from a Stay at Home order to a Safer at Home order. Phase 2 begins today (Friday, May 22nd) at 5pm and remains in place unless changed or cancelled. To learn more about Phase 2 there is a good FAQ available on the State’s website.

This is good news for most businesses in Rolesville. Our small businesses and restaurants can once again be open to the public with certain restrictions. The restrictions are vitally important, as it is clear the COVID-19 is still prevalent, and we need to continue to take special precautions for all of our citizens.

The other good news is that Rolesville still has a low number of known cases. The latest case count by zip code shows that zip code 27571 has only four reported COVID-19 cases. It is up to us to continue to monitor, keep safe, and if needed, get tested. Wearing a cloth face covering, practicing social distancing, and washing our hands often are still important practices. Finally, the Governor’s order does not allow mass gatherings over ten inside and twenty-five outside. Being diligent and respectful of your fellow Rolesville citizens is appreciated.

Town Hall and Police facilities will now start to re-open. On Tuesday, both buildings will be open for business from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 5 pm. Lobby capacity will be limited to ensure social distancing. For convenience, we still encourage use of the exterior payment dropbox at Town Hall.

Finally, Town Board and advisory meetings are now scheduled. The meetings will be modified so public attendance can be staged to allow our Town Hall chambers to accommodate proper social distancing. If you intend to attend a meeting, your patience will be appreciated in our new process. Otherwise, please watch our Town Board meetings on our Town of Rolesville YouTube channel where we live stream our meetings.

Memorial Day is here! Take a moment this holiday weekend and drive on Granite Falls Boulevard. There you will see the newly installed Military banners that recognize military members of our community.

For the most up to date information on Town services and resources available, continue to monitor the Town of Rolesville website

So, stay safe and stay connected to each other Rolesville.

Sincerely,

Ronnie I. Currin

Rolesville Mayor
