Northeast Area Study Update

A large transportation study, the Northeast Area Study (NEAS) Update, has recently begun in our area - across northern and eastern Wake County and southern Franklin County. It’s an update to the original study that occurred in 2014.

The NEAS Update will identify and prioritize short, mid, and long-term transportation improvements for the study area. Recommendations will include all modes of travel: bike, walk, rail, bus, cars. The study recommendations will feed into the Triangle region’s long-range transportation plan, which is how we get state and federal dollars for transportation projects.

Since the early 2000s, we have seen explosive growth in Wake County and the surrounding area. In fact, three of the fastest growing communities in North Carolina are located in this study area - Rolesville, Wake Forest, and Knightdale. As a new decade begins, an updated NEAS plan is needed to lay out a long-term vision for a multi-modal transportation network for the region. Check out the website and fill out the survey to provide input.
