The Rolesville Downtown Development Association’s (RDDA) new Façade Improvement Program has its first grant recipient. This marks an exciting milestone in the organization’s efforts to enhance the look and feel of downtown Rolesville.
A commercial building on Rogers Road, home to several local businesses, including Edward Jones (Valerie Massengill, Financial Advisor), Soda Box, Sweetheart Treats, Party Like a Princess LLC, and Carolina Pack Ship and Print, was the first recipient of the award. The property, owned by RLegacy, received a $2,500 grant to support a fresh new paint job that is already brightening up the heart of the community.
“For over a year, I’ve been thinking of ways to refresh the building, so I thought painting the building would give it a fresh look,” said Nisha Chanadak, Vice President of Focus Properties, which manages the building. “When I saw an email about the façade improvement program, I thought it was perfect. I’m very thankful to the RDDA and the Town of Rolesville for this.”
Mical McFarland, Economic Development Director for the Town of Rolesville, praised the collaboration behind the program and the positive impact it’s already having downtown.
“This is a wonderful program that the Town and RDDA have worked collaboratively on over the past year. It's a great way to help local businesses with their upgrades and exterior renovations, which in turn improves the overall look and feel of our Town in general. Congrats to RLegacy as the program's first grant recipient.”
Launched earlier this year by the RDDA in partnership with the Town of Rolesville, the Façade Improvement Program is a 50/50 matching grant initiative designed to encourage property owners and business operators to reinvest in their buildings through exterior enhancements such as painting, lighting, signage, and landscaping. Each approved project may receive up to $2,500 in matching funds.
By improving building exteriors, the RDDA aims to make downtown Rolesville more attractive and inviting for residents, visitors, and potential investors. The initiative supports the broader goal of strengthening the town’s economic vitality and creating a distinct sense of place in the heart of Rolesville.
Founded in 2023, the Rolesville Downtown Development Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to attracting new businesses, supporting existing ones, and collaborating with local stakeholders on marketing, beautification, and special events to strengthen downtown Rolesville.
With this first award, the RDDA and the Town of Rolesville are demonstrating their shared commitment to sustainable growth and revitalization, one façade at a time.
