SOLID WASTE BILLING

The annual solid waste fees are included on the residential property tax bill. The amount of the fee applied to each property is determined by the number of dwelling units (e.g. a property with a duplex unit will be billed twice the base fee). Carts in addition to the standard (1) garbage cart and (1) recycling cart will still be available, but will be billed separately.

The policy staff use when applying the solid waste fee to property tax bills is:

  • Fee applies to all residential units, regardless of type of construction
  • Fee applies to all habitable units, whether occupied or unoccupied
  • Amount of the fee is based on the number of dwelling units on each parcel
  • Parcels excluded from the fee:
    • Multi-family developments with dumpster service
    • Homes condemned or otherwise uninhabitable
