Hearings - Legislative & Quasi-Judicial

Have you seen one of these signs in the newspaper legal ads or around Rolesville? Each of these signs provides notice that a legislative hearing is forthcoming on/for the property the sign is located on or adjacent to.
  • Development Agreement: A landowner may ask the Board of Commissioners to approve conditions not addressed in a map amendment (rezoning), such as the timing of development, etc.

  • Map Amendment (aka Rezoning): A landowner may request to change the Zoning District of their property.

  • Text Amendment: A landowner may ask the Board of Commissioners to change the Land Development Ordinance to allow certain things to occur in the zoning district in which their property is or would like to be. The text amendment must change for the entire zoning district (i.e., RL or GC), not just the landowner's property.

  • Voluntary Annexation: A landowner may request that the Board of Commissioners approve a voluntary annexation of the property into the town limits to receive town services, such as water and sewer, trash collection, etc. *The town cannot force a landowner to annex into town limits.
