Campaign Sign Regulations

As we approach election season, the Town of Rolesville asks that candidates be mindful and compliant with the rules and regulations regarding campaign signs. The State of North Carolina has specific regulations regarding campaign signage and location. Please review the regulations here:

Please note that political signs ARE allowed in public rights-of-way on state-regulated streets, provided you get permission from the adjacent property owner. Also, note it is a Class 3 misdemeanor to remove a legally placed political sign. It may be beneficial to review the text in its entirety as a refresher.

The State of North Carolina gives municipalities permission to regulate, by ordinance, political sign placement on rights-of-way of streets within each municipality for which responsibility for maintenance is established. The Town of Rolesville adheres to the provisions of subsections (b) through ( e) of Article 8 of Chapter 160A of the General Statutes as well as respectfully asks that signs not be placed in the berm surrounding the Veterans Memorial at the corner of Main Street and Young Street in the center of town.
