Mayor's April 17 Message on COVID-19

Stay Home, Stay Safe, and Stay Connected

Fellow Rolesville Residents,

To continue efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community, Wake County Board of Commissioners Chairman Greg Ford signed a new proclamation, extending the stay-at-home order through April 30th. This is consistent with Governor Cooper’s current order.

In addition, all retail businesses are now allowed to operate if they provide delivery or curbside pickup options for customers. For me, this was an important allowance as it relates to Rolesville businesses. As the State and County start to plan on how to “open” back up, we will be actively engaged in making sure Rolesville is represented. Our interests are to help local businesses and to maintain a safe environment for Rolesville citizens. We expect that a coordinated effort will be the priority for Wake County and will be supported by all Wake municipalities.

During the next two weeks it is important that we stay diligent to continue to abide by social distancing measures and no mass gatherings. The results of these measures in Wake County have been beneficial. Between March 17 and April 8, the doubling rate of COVID-19 cases has gone from 2.5 days to 8 days. This encouraging information means that the COVID-19 curve continues to flatten, which will help avoid overwhelming our local healthcare system.

The Town Board will be holding our regular Board meeting on April 21st. The meeting will be broadcast on our YouTube channel. Also, we are evaluating our May programming and meeting schedule. I anticipate modifications and we will keep you informed as we make those decisions. Your Town staff is working diligently to maintain our quality services while in this environment. Town Hall remains closed to public through April 30th, but you can always call or go on-line to contact staff.

For the most up to date information on Town services and resources available, continue to monitor the Town of Rolesville website

So, stay home, stay safe, and stay connected to each other Rolesville.

Sincerely,

Ronnie I. Currin

Rolesville Mayor
