Solid Waste Billing Change

Beginning July 1, 2019 Town residents will no longer receive bi-monthly bills for the solid waste service fee. The annual amount for the solid waste fee will be included on the residential property tax bill for 2019.  This change was implemented in order to improve the efficiency and equity of solid waste billing and to provide a more convenient method of payment for citizens.

Make note of this upcoming change if you have set automatic payments through your online banking, if you live on a fixed income, or if you lease residential property in the Town limits. Residents with a credit balance on July 1, 2019 will be sent a form they can use to request a refund.

The amount of the fee applied to each property will be determined by the number of dwelling units. For example, a property with a duplex unit will be billed twice the base fee. Carts in addition to the standard (1) garbage cart and (1) recycling cart will still be available, but will be billed separately. These payments will be made in advance on a quarterly basis.
