The Town of Rolesville has refined the 2025 Trail Art Design Competition, which is underway now. The application process has been split into two parts and those who make it to round two will be paid for the artwork they create for Trail Art.
The initial application process requires all artists to enter their information and provide pictures of past work, and optionally, a picture of work that will be submitted for Trail Art if selected for part two. Artists have from now until February 10, 2025, to submit their applications. Those selected to move on to part two will be notified on February 11, 2025.
Each artist selected to participate in part two is required to submit their art to us either by mail or by dropping it off at Town Hall. All artists who are selected for part two will be compensated for their time and materials spent creating the art to submit for Trail Art. The town will pay each artist for their sample piece.
The winning artist will be announced on April 1, 2025.
Trail Art is an award-winning initiative by the Town of Rolesville Parks and Recreation Department that combines the arts with the natural beauty of our greenways and trails. We’ll be placing two art pieces a day somewhere along our greenways, for the entire month of June. These small works of art could be anything from pottery sculptures and glasswork to ceramics or gourds. Those who find the treasures get to keep them.
This program won the North Carolina Recreation & Park Association's Arts & Humanities Award in 2022. The award recognizes innovative and effective arts and humanities programs throughout the state.
