Community Group Funding Program

The Community Group Funding Program is now accepting applications. All applications and supporting documentation must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on July 31st. Applications are accepted through the Town’s online application portal. 

Program Overview

The Community Group Funding Program, established by the Town of Rolesville Board of Commissioners in Fall 2018, is designed to provide financial support to eligible nonprofit organizations that contribute to the quality of life, community services, and youth education within the Rolesville community. Funding aligns with the Town’s annual budget development process.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for funding, community groups must meet the following requirements:

  • One application per organization
  • Be a registered 503(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization
  • Organizational Statement of Revenue & Expense
  • Purpose of Funds Declaration
  • Deliver programs or services that fall under at least one of the following categories:
    • Community service
    • Youth education
    • Enhancement of quality of life for Rolesville residents

Ineligible Expenses

Funding may not be used to cover the following:

  • Salaries or wages
  • Taxes and government fees
  • Utility bills
  • Rent or mortgage payments
  • Building repair or maintenance costs
  • Research
  • Scholarships

Application & Review Process

  • The funding process follows an annual cycle in conjunction with the Town’s budget development timeline.
  • A Community Group Fund Sub-Committee, comprised of Town Board members and staff, will review all applications.
  • Eligible applicants may be invited to participate in an interview before the subcommittee.
  • Recommendations will be submitted to the Town Board for final consideration during the budget approval process.

While out-of-cycle requests are not prohibited, such applications will require special justification and may receive limited consideration.

Recipients of Community Group Funding must submit a final report outlining the outcomes achieved and how the awarded funds were used, including appropriate financial documentation (e.g., receipts, invoices, or financial statements). Failure to meet these reporting requirements may result in disqualification from future funding opportunities.

Funding Allocation

  • The total funding amount is determined annually and may be adjusted by population growth.
    • For reference, $12,000 was allocated last year, equivalent to approximately $1 per capita.
  • There is no requirement that all available funds must be distributed.

Special Considerations

Although not explicitly stated in policy, it is recommended that the Chamber of Commerce be treated as a stand-alone entity and excluded from this funding program. This approach aligns with common practice in other municipalities regarding groups focused on tourism, economic development, or downtown initiatives.
